My financial journey started in 2011 when my husband and I got engaged, and I started my first “big girl” job. We were combining finances for the first time, started planning our wedding, and got into some debt. I decided to take control of the situation, and together with my husband, we got out of our paycheck-to-paycheck mentality. In just 3 years, we paid off about $30,000 of debt and saved for a downpayment for our first home.
Once I knew how liberating it was to have this control over our money, I knew that I wanted to help other people feel the same way. I love helping people who are in a similar position. I want you to feel empowered by your finances as you start this new and exciting chapter in your life. But I know it can be overwhelming. Starting a budget, and sticking to it, can be hard without the right tools or the right person to hold you accountable to it. Maybe you’ve never tried to budget because it gives you the “ick” feeling or you don’t know where or how to start because it was never taught to you. I want to be there for you on this road to give you guidance that is judgment-free, you can think of me as your Financial Best Friend. My goal is to help you feel successful at budgeting no matter where your life takes you. Whether you are fresh from college and just starting a new job, have a partner you want to start talking finances with, or a mom who needs to take the wheel of the family finances, I’m here to make this chapter for you the most empowering financially one.
